On this page I will share some stories behind the images, thoughts on upcoming trips and art fairs, as well as some trip reports, and random thoughts. If you are interested in more details about the things on this page, feel free to contact me.
I have to admit that I stole the title of this page from George R. R. Martin. If you don’t know who that is, all I can say “Drakharis”.
My Favorite Images of 2025: Part 1. From Blizzards to Sunsets
We are at the end of 2025, and it is time, once again, to reflect on the previous year. This is going to be a first post out of a series of three. The first two will be dedicated to my favorite images of the year. In the third “definitely not a blog” I will focus on the different exhibits, awards and other things that happened in 2025.
I’ve had a good amount of images that made it to the shortlist of “my favorites”. As a result, I decided to break them down into two posts, to keep it a bit more manageable. If you would like to see all the images, and some additional behind the scenes footage, check out the video below.
Chance Favors the Prepared Mind: Planning and Improvising in Landscape Photography
"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth," said Mike Tyson—and in landscape photography, that “punch” often comes from the weather. Scouting locations, checking forecasts, and timing the light can set us up for success, but nature rarely sticks to our script. That’s why the ability to adapt and improvise is just as important as planning. Some of my favorite images came from carefully prepared shoots, while others happened by simply embracing the conditions in front of me.
In this video presentation, given at the Worcester County Camera Club, I share stories and examples from my work as a landscape and travel photographer and explain my preparation workflow. I show how different levels of planning — ranging from meticulous preparation to complete spontaneity—can shape your results and help you make the most of any opportunity.
End of the Year Exhibits, Fairs, and a New Gallery
My last art fair this year is going to be the 30th Original Castleberry Faire at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA, November 28-30. This fair is always a great opportunity to get some holiday shopping done. Come visit my booth and check out the other vendors!
Stay tuned to some announcements after that fair.

Exhibits, Art Fairs etc
It’s been a busy September for me. I have done three Art Fairs so far this month, with two more to go next weekend. I am also gearing up for the Lightroom/Photoshop editing class to run starting at the end of October. In addition, my work is currently featured in seven (7!) different exhibits. Check out the details in this “definitely not a blog” post
Long Term Review of Epson ET-8550 Printer
After nearly a year with the Epson EcoTank ET-8550, I’ve put it through its paces as a landscape photographer printing everything from small test shots to large-format gallery images. This long-term review shares the real-world pros and cons of the ET-8550—its stunning photo quality, ultra-low ink costs, and versatile A3+ printing—along with a few quirks you should know before investing in it.
A Unique Exhibit and Quick Updates
A new and unique exhibit had started at the Cape Cod Art Center. The exhibit is called “Points of View”. The unique part is that in this show, painters and photographers interpret the same scene. When the art call came, photographers submitted their unedited (or lightly edited images). Painters then chose images to interpret. If the image was chosen, the photographer then would finish the editing process, and the two pieces will be shown side by side at the exhibit. Hence, the “Points of View” name. This is a very unusual show, and I am super excited to see it. The show will run June 16th - July 11th. The opening reception is going to be on June 20th, 5-7 PM. Come check it out and meet me at the reception!
Good Enough for an Exhibit: Printing and Framing Your Work for an Exhibition
As I mentioned in one of the “definitely not a blog posts”, two of my black and white images were juried into the annual “Fine Art of Photography” exhibit at the Plymouth Center for the Arts. It is an amazing show (running May 17th - June 22nd). It is well worth the visit for the many amazing works showcased there. If you can’t make it to the Center, you can visit the online gallery here.
The jurying process is very competitive, and I was honored to have two images get into the show.
Getting your images juried in, is only half the job. The next step is to print and frame them.
I decided to use the opportunity of printing and framing one of the images to record two videos showcasing how I go about printing and framing my work.
Major Workshop Announcement for 2026
I am happy to announce two, back-to-back, workshops next June (2026). I will be joining forces with Rick Berk and Luka Esenko of Esenko Workshops (do check both of them out!) for amazing two weeks of adventure in Slovenia and the Italian Dolomites.

Busy Start to the New Year
Hi, everyone
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good holiday season.
It’s January, and the busy season for me carried over from last year. In fact, it might be even busier now than before :-)
Just as a reminder, the end-of-year sale is still on for a few days. If you would like to purchase some prints and get a 20% off, use YEAREND20 code at check-out.
Early Bird price is available for the Lightroom editing class for another week.
Now, that out of the way, for some updates on upcoming events.
My work will appear in several upcoming exhibits that would start in January.
2024 — The Year that Was. From Maine to West Virginia and Everything in Between
It was a pretty busy year for me with many art fairs and exhibits. I still found some time to go out shooting. For the first time I overcame my aversion to cold weather and have had a significant amount of work done in Winter. I also visited Acadia National Park in early June (always a great location) and scouted locations for a workshop I am planning there in 2025 (stay tuned for the announcement). Then, in the Fall, I had a quick trip to Virginia and West Virginia.
Launching 2025 Workshops
Now that I am done with the art fair season for 2024, I started updating my website.
First thing I did, was to update my Workshops and Lessons page. It now has a drop-down, where you can choose 1-on-1, short workshops, longer workshops, and editing classes.
I have launched two half-day workshops (to run in May 2025) and an Lightroom Classic Editing class to run for 6 weeks in February/March of 2025

Drinking from a Hose and Playing the World’s Tiniest Violin
Life has been very busy for me this fall (hence part of the title of this “definitely not a blog”). In fact, I got so busy with things ranging from business travel to participating in multiple art fairs that I barely had time to take new images and edit older ones (yes, I am still severely behind in my editing process, and that’s all I am going to say about that).
The second part of the title, is just to remind myself that despite being so busy, I am also very lucky to be able to do all these things, and I shouldn’t complain. In fact, I had a pretty good fair season so far, and also managed to combine some business travel with capturing some great images (more on that later).
All that being said, I finally got a little breather now, and am able to get ready for new art fairs and photographic adventures.
Autumn Updates
Hi, everyone
It’s been a while since I posted. Life interferes it seems.
First of all, I wanted to welcome any new subscribers. As we are heading into Fall, I also wanted to share a few updates regarding some new products as well as upcoming Art Fairs and exhibits. Hopefully, I will be able to post a bit more regularly.
People’s Choice Award at Cape Cod Art Center
One of my images was chosen as People’s Favorite in the recent “It’s a Beautiful World” exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center. They center has also posted a short featurette of me on their website. Here, I am reprinting it with the center’s permission.
Quick Update
Just a couple of quick updates.
I have started a YouTube channel and posted a video demo of an editing session. Check it out!
There is one more week left before the start of the editing class. There are still spaces available if you are interested in learning how to edit your images in Lightroom Classic with a little help in Photoshop. The class will run weekly for 6 sessions. If you want to participate, but are unable to to join one of the sessions, no worries. The sessions will be recorded and made available to participants. Click on the link to see more details about the class and the tentative syllabus.
Space is still available in the half-day in-the-field workshops “Waterfall Chasing 1 & 2. These are great fun and a good opportunity to dust off your photo gear and get out to shoot some beautiful spring water flow. They are also a great companion to the editing class. Why not join and also learn how to edit them?
Dispatches from the Balkans. Part 2: Churches, Castles, Oh My…
If you chance to go to the Balkans, one of the defining features of the landscape are the many churches and castles you see on your way. They give the area a unique vibe and offer plenty of opportunities for photography.
During my trip, I enjoyed a variety of conditions, from misty to colorful sunset/sunrise. The first morning at the famous Sveti Tomaz church with the beautiful inversion in the valley set the tone for the rest of the trip.
